Annual Meeting

What’s happening at ESA this year?

The Invasion Ecology section has several things scheduled–and all are welcome!

We’re hosting a mixer on TUESDAY night starting at 6:30 in room 318.  There will be a cash bar and lots of conversation.  Tell your favorite field story or find a new collaborator. There’s lots of other mixers happening that night, so come early or come late, but show up!

Less exciting: the annual business meeting of the section will occur Wednesday morning from 8-9am in room 302. I know, it’s not a good plan to hold the business meeting the night after the mixer.  This is where the executive committee meets to discuss the year past and the year ahead. Do you want to join us? Shoot me an email so we know you’re coming–we’ll save some coffee for you.

SYMPOSIUM!

The Invasion Ecology Section leadership team (Erik, Luke and Jen) organized a symposium titled: The Future of Invasion Ecology.  It’s on Friday (boo) 8-11:30am in the Grand Floridian Blrm B.

There’s a great lineup of speakers:

9:00 AM
The phylogenetic ecology and evolutionary dynamics of invasions
Ingrid M. Parker, University of California Santa Cruz

9:30 AM [Break]

10:10 AM
10:40 AM
Long-term invader impacts depend on invader persistence: When should that be strongest?
Carla D’Antonio, University of California Santa Barbara; S. Luke Flory, University of Florida
